Caring for your Collection

The Institute for the Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works in Ireland

The Institute for the Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works in Ireland was established in 1991. Its main objective is to promote for the benefit of Ireland the preservation of Historic and Artistic works. To realise this objective, it runs courses for those working with collections such as curators, librarians, archivists and administrators. ICHAWI also organises courses for conservator/restorers as part of their continuing professional development (CPD). The Institute is the accrediting body for the profession in Ireland and all members have been accredited. It awards bursaries to assist students following full-time training abroad, and to conservator/restorers attending CPD courses.
