Conservation Internship 2010/2011

National Library of Ireland and the Irish Heritage Council are pleased to offer a one-year paper conservation internship. It is open to recent graduates of a recognised relevant conservation training programme. The internship is part of the Heritage Council's commitment to promotion of best practice of conservation. The internship will include work on a variety of collections from the manuscript, printed and visual collections of the National Library of Ireland, as well as assisting in the preparation and installation of exhibitions and displays.
An ideal candidate profile:
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience in surveying/ dealing with large collections
• Ability to work independently
• Interest in learning new skills and engaging in new challenges
• Good IT skills (e.g. knowledge of data-basing and image manipulation)
Stipend: €28,000 per year (subject to normal statutory deductions)
