ICON Ethnography Group Workshop and One-Day Symposium
Basketry Conservation at the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew, London
Workshop: 15-18 September 2010
Symposium: 19 September 2010
Practical Workshop: Call for Expressions of Interest
The ICON Ethnography Group is running a 3-day practical workshop(for up to 16 people) on the conservation of baskets and related materials, led by Sherry Doyal and Barbara Wills in conjunction with the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew.
The workshop programme is currently being finalised. However, to address your needs we would welcome information from interested parties on the types of basketry collections in their care (technique, country of origin, archaeological/antiquity/historic/modern) and any particular challenges they would like the workshop to cover. Please return responses by December 15, 2009 to iconbasketry@googlemail.com
One Day Symposium: First Call for Papers
The workshop will be followed by a one-day symposium focusing on the conservation of basketry. Subjects may include, but are not limited to, deterioration, conservation, display, cultural collaborations, etc. Please send abstracts of no more than 250 words to ICONbasketry@googlemail.com by December 15 2009.
Selected papers will be peer-reviewed and e-published on the ICON website.
