International Conference "Domes in the world"

The conference aim is to have an interdisciplinary, intercultural and intercontinental meeting on scientific-cultural topics linked to the vaulted systems in architecture and especially to the domes. The worldwide presence of domes is linked to celebrative or at least monumental architectures. Therefore their great importance is due to their spatial and dimensional meaning which characterize them both internally and externally. The topics to be discussed aim to reach a multidisciplinary knowledge of those elements and their role. The topics of the conference will range from with the structural, geometric and symbolic appraisal, to the various aspects of conservation and strengthening. Finally, a matter of considerable interest related to the landscape will be the role played by the dome as meaningful element of identity and recognition of a place in the time.
