THE IRISH PROFESSIONAL CONSERVATORS' & RESTORERS' ASSOCIATION.
Welcome to the IPCRA website. We are Ireland's largest association of trained and experienced conservators and restorers working to preserve the island's heritage. We work in the public and private sectors on objects as diverse as oil paintings, paper, furniture, bog bodies, ceramics and sculpture. The conservation profession generates an estimated revenue of €5,000,000 a year and the work our members undertakes reaches far into the daily life of all users of the heritage sector.
As well as professional advice and support to curators, architects or exhibition designers, many of our members work with private clients and local heritage or church groups who are looking for guidance as how to best look after their collections or monuments. We have strict codes of conduct and we strive to raise the standard of conservation and restoration practice and awareness.
We also encourage non-professionals to join IPCRA. Beyond our 150 full members, we also have associate, student and institutional member. All members receive our publications and have the opportunity to meet and exchange views with the professionals socially at our twice-yearly meetings and field trips. As a network for spreading information about conservation in Ireland we are second to none.
