Griffen Mill specializes in making a range of antique, toned, handmade papers resembling those made in 15th to early 19th centuries for bookbinding & paper Conservation, restoration & repair work, historical recreations & fine Printing. Made by hand, from natural fibers such as cotton, linen & hemp, all the papers made by Griffen Mill are of archival quality. In addition, the Mill also makes papers for special projects. Examples include a base paper used for recreating historic wallpapers,a paper made for copperplate printing,a handmade cartridge paper similar to that used in the early 1800's & a handmade 18th century paper mounting paper. Griffen Mill is located in County Mayo and Ireland's only surviving hand-made paper mill.
