Provides a clear picture of the MGC; advice pages include downloadable collections care fact sheets; bookshop pages include summaries of MGC conservation publications.NB The MGC is now part of the Museums, Arts and Libraries Council; their website will remain but will not be updated.

The Heritage Council
Great for finding out what is going on in Ireland, including conservation plans and current projects, publications, a discussion forum and lots of links.

ICCROM
International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property. A huge conservation resource including a calendar of conferences, details of ICCROM courses, periodicals list and on-line version of the ICCROM Library.

Courses at Academic Projects

ICHAWI
The Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works in Ireland. A fellow organisation for the promotion of conservation in Ireland.

ICON
Institute for Conservation. A UK based umbrella organisation of various conservation groups. IPCRA is an assoicate member of ICON.

National Perservation Office
Organisation which provides an independent focus for ensuring the preservation and continued accessibility of library and archive material held in the United Kingdom and Ireland.

The Conservation Register
The Register was first established some 15 years ago by the Conservation Unit of the Museums & Galleries Commission. Since 2000 it has been operated by the UK Institute for Conservation and includes detailed information on conservation-restoration businesses providing a very wide range of conservation expertise from across the UK and Ireland. Membership of the Conservation Register is not restricted to members of UKIC and ICHAWI accreditation is recognized by the Conservation Register Advisory Board as one of the schemes fulfilling the accreditation criterion of the Register's criteria for inclusion.
